THE "TWO FACES" OF MARCH
March issue of Allegany Magazine is a “flip” edition
Our latest issue features two covers
There’s that famous line from Shakespeare. “Beware the Ides of March.” For our March 2018 edition, that saying could be changed to “Brides of March.”
For the second year, we are presenting an “upside down” edition that has two covers – one that features brides and the other that spotlights business.
You could call affectionately call this the “Mullet” edition because it’s business in the front and (wedding) party in the back. Or vice versa. Last year, like this year, we wanted to showcase all the positive progress happening in Allegany County and because we just couldn’t decide which “theme” to use, we used both. You can read this issue cover to cover and then turn it upside down and start all over.
One side of the March 2018 issue features our annual salute to local weddings – which also coincides with the Bridal Showcase at Frostburg State University March 19 that we are co-sponsoring again this year with our sister publication, the Cumberland Times-News.
Our bridal cover features Rebecca Rose of Bedford, Pa (photo by Karen Morgan Photography) who will also be one of the models in a wedding fashion show that will conclude this year’s Bridal Showcase. Inside also are more than 50 photos submitted by readers from area wedding ceremonies and a wedding fashion shoot pictorial.
We asked local brides and grooms to send us their wedding photos and as usual, our readers were proud to send them in. We have a wonderful eclectic mix of photos from area weddings. Thank you to all of you who submitted your memories to us!
Readers will then be able to “flip” the magazine over for a second cover which focuses on business progress and economic growth Allegany County.
The business edition of the March issue features articles on a life saving medical invention patented by Dr. Matthew Allaway of Cumberland; the plan to open the downtown pedestrian mall to motorists for the first time in 40 years; a preview of the construction inside the Footers building; and as a salute to International Women’s Day we have personality profiles on seven area women in business: Dr. Cynthia Bambara, Ferne Benson, Holly Burner, Jessica Seminiero Grapes, Lisa McIndoe and Cari Cannon, whose portrait by local photographer Karen Morgan was chosen as the “business” cover.
Just this reminder, we are published 12 times a year and are available by subscription and single copy sales are at more than 70 retail partners in Allegany, Bedford, Garrett and Mineral Counties. The March 2018 edition will be on sale starting March 1.
